Browser games on desktop

Turn your browser game into a desktop game

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS and Linux, built from what your engine already exports. It plays offline, has the settings menu players expect, and keeps their saves safe.

Why a tab isn’t enough

A browser game gets played once. There’s no icon to come back to, and the things players expect from a game they own are missing:

  • Saves live in browser storage, invisible to the player and gone when they clear site data or switch browsers.
  • No offline play: every launch loads the game over the network.
  • No real fullscreen or window settings, and browser shortcuts that fight your controls.
  • Nowhere to sell it: the stores where players buy games want a native download.

Wrapping it yourself in Electron or NW.js solves some of that, then leaves you with per-OS builds, code signing and an updater to maintain. Deskifier gives you the finished desktop game instead.

What a desktop build gets your game

Offline play
Upload your build and it ships inside the app, loading from the player’s disk: faster launches, and no connection needed.
A settings menu you didn’t build
Window mode, resolution scale, monitor, volume and quit, over your game. Players open it with a hotkey, a controller button or your pause menu.
Saves that survive
Browser storage is backed up to a visible GameSaves folder and restored after a reinstall. Players can export and import their saves.
No security warnings
Signed and notarised on macOS, Azure Trusted Signing on Windows, so players open your game without an “unidentified developer” wall.
itch.io, Steam and Epic
Push to itch.io with butler, Steam with SteamPipe and Epic with BuildPatchTool, each from one button on the Builds page.
Updates for direct downloads
Sell or give away installers from your own site, and those copies update themselves. Store builds leave updates to the store.

Browser game to desktop game in three steps

  1. 1
    Add your game
Upload your HTML5 or WebGL build, or point Deskifier at the URL where it is hosted.
  2. 2
Set it up like a game
Pick the window mode, icon and settings-menu rows in the dashboard, and turn on Steam or Discord if you use them.
  3. 3
    Build and ship
Try a free dev build on all three desktops, then build signed installers or push straight to your stores.

Anything that exports to HTML5 or WebGL: Phaser, Construct, GDevelop, Godot’s web export, PlayCanvas, PixiJS, Three.js, RPG Maker MZ and more. Deskifier wraps what your engine already exports, so there is nothing to port.

It runs the same code in a Chromium-based runtime, so what works in Chrome works in the desktop build. The difference is what surrounds it: a real window, the settings menu, save backup, and offline files when you bundle them.

Yes. Set your itch project to Downloadable, add an API key and your project name, and Build & push uploads each platform to its own channel, so the itch app offers every player the right download.

It can still reach one. Bundled games load their own files from disk and can call your APIs as they do in the browser; they only need a connection for the parts that were online to begin with.
