RPG Maker MZ & MV

Ship your RPG Maker game on Steam

Deploy for web browsers, and Deskifier turns your MZ or MV project into a signed desktop game for Windows, macOS and Linux, with Steam achievements, cloud saves and store uploads built in.

The usual RPG Maker route to Steam

RPG Maker deploys to Windows and macOS itself, and many games have shipped on Steam that way. The rough edges are well known:

  • Steam through community plugins built on Greenworks, which is maintained on a best-effort basis and has to match both the bundled NW.js and the Steam SDK exactly.
  • Mac builds that aren’t signed or notarised for you, so macOS blocks them until you sort out certificates and notarisation yourself.
  • No Linux deployment in MZ (MV has one), so no Linux depot for Steam.
  • Uploads by hand with steamcmd and depot scripts.

Deskifier starts from the web deployment and gives you a current runtime, signing, Steam and store uploads instead.

What your RPG Maker game gets

Steam without Greenworks
Achievements, stats, cloud saves and rich presence through window.deskifier.steam, callable from a plugin or a Script command.
Signed on every OS
Notarised Mac builds and signed Windows builds that open without warnings.
Windows, macOS and Linux
All three desktops from one deployment, including a Linux depot for Steam.
Saves that survive
Web saves are backed up to a visible GameSaves folder and restored after a reinstall; Steam Auto-Cloud can sync that folder.
A proper settings menu
Window mode, resolution scale, monitor and volume, alongside your game’s own Options screen.
Store uploads
Push to Steam, Epic and itch.io from one button per platform.

Frequently asked questions

Plugins that work in the web deployment work in Deskifier, since it runs that deployment. Plugins that depend on NW.js or Node.js file access (including Greenworks-based Steam plugins) don’t, and Deskifier’s built-in features replace the common ones.

The web deployment saves to browser storage. Deskifier backs that up to a GameSaves folder the player can see, restores it after a reinstall, and lets Steam Auto-Cloud sync it across machines.

Yes. Both deploy for web browsers, and that deployment is what Deskifier wraps.

You need one line per achievement, in a Script event command or a tiny plugin that exposes it as a plugin command. After that it’s ordinary eventing.

Dev builds are free on all three desktops. You pay per store you ship to.
