PixiJS renders your game; the rest of a desktop release is up to you. Deskifier provides it: Windows, macOS and Linux builds, Steamworks from your own code, and uploads to every store.
PixiJS is deliberately just the rendering layer, which is why people choose it. It also means there’s no export button and no desktop story: that’s your job. The DIY version is Electron or Tauri, a native Steamworks binding like steamworks.js, per-OS builds, signing and store upload scripts.
Deskifier replaces that whole layer. Your game stays a web build you can run in any browser; the desktop builds, Steam integration and store uploads come from the dashboard.
dist).window.deskifier?.steam calls for achievements and saves; they’re no-ops in a plain browser. The SDK is promise-based and every call returns a result object with success and, on failure, a reason. Add a small type declaration for window.deskifier in your project, or check each result as you go.
The desktop build runs Chromium, so rendering matches Chrome on the same machine. Loading from disk usually makes startup faster.
Yes. window.deskifier only exists in desktop builds, so optional chaining keeps the browser version working. In desktop builds, unavailable features resolve with success: false rather than throwing.
No. Builds for every OS run on Deskifier’s infrastructure, including Mac signing and notarisation.
Dev builds are free on all three desktops. You pay per store you ship to.
