Your Defold game did well on the web. Deskifier takes that HTML5 bundle to Windows, macOS and Linux, adds Steamworks, a settings menu and save backup, and uploads it to Steam, Epic and itch.io.
Defold builds lean native desktop bundles, and there’s a Steam extension for them. If you already ship those, keep doing that: a small native build is hard to beat.
Deskifier suits a different Defold project:
window.deskifier.steam. Test with App ID 480 before yours is issued. If your game already runs well as a native bundle, yes: it’s small, fast and has its own Steam extension. Deskifier is for games whose HTML5 build is the one that matters, where keeping a single build across the web and the desktop stores saves you real work.
Through a small JavaScript bridge. A fire-and-forget call like unlocking an achievement can be one html5.run line; calls that return data, like reading a stat, need a little JavaScript that passes the result back to your game.
Yes, if the bridge checks for window.deskifier before calling it: it only exists in the desktop build. Inside that build, Steam calls resolve with success: false when Steam isn’t running rather than throwing.
There’s no portal on the desktop, so skip ads and other portal-only calls when window.deskifier is present.
Dev builds are free on all three desktops. You pay per store you ship to.
Upload your Defold HTML5 bundle and try a free dev build. No card required.
