Deskifier for Replit

Turn your Replit app into a desktop app

Replit Agent built it and Replit Deployments host it. Deskifier gives your users a desktop version: signed installers for Mac, Windows and Linux that load your deployed app.

Two different “Replit desktop apps”

Replit has its own desktop app, but that’s for you: it’s the workspace you build in. It doesn’t turn what you built into a desktop app for your users.

That second part is what Deskifier does. Your app stays deployed on Replit, with its server and database where they are, and your users install a native app that loads it: their own window, a tray icon, notifications and automatic updates. Each time you redeploy, they get the change.

What your Replit app gains

Its own window
Your icon in the dock and taskbar and a designed titlebar, with no browser around your product.
Tray and background running
Stay available after the window closes, and launch at login for tools people use every day.
Native notifications
Real OS notifications from your frontend code through the Deskifier SDK.
Desktop features in JavaScript
Files, shortcuts, printing and window control on window.deskifier, which Replit Agent can write for you.
Signed installers
Notarised DMGs and signed Windows installers that open without security warnings.
App stores when you want them
Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and Snap Store builds under your own developer accounts.

Replit app to desktop app in three steps

  1. 1
    Deploy on Replit
Use a Deployment rather than the dev URL, so the desktop app always reaches a running app.
  2. 2
    Configure the shell
Name, icon, window, tray and launch behaviour in the Deskifier dashboard.
  3. 3
    Build installers
Test a free dev build, then build signed installers for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Frequently asked questions

Use your deployment URL instead. The dev URL only works while your workspace is running, and your desktop users need an app that’s always up.

No. Your server, database and secrets stay on Replit. The desktop app is a native front door to the deployed app.

Yes. The app runs your site in Chromium with persistent storage, so sessions and cookies behave as they do in Chrome.

Yes. Ask it to call window.deskifier (for notifications, files or shortcuts) and to check the object exists first, so the web version keeps working.
